What kind of EK do I have? Really f*cking confused
My first post on here.
Honestly I can't figure out what model of EK I have. The person I bought it from sold it as an HX, and the VIN matches up and says it's an HX. However in 99 the HX has these features:
No AC
No Radio
No power windows/locks
Either CVT or 5 speed
The HX also has a d16y5
My car has:
AC
Radio
No power locks or windows
but it has a d16y7
I thought it was an EX, because it has all of the same features, but the EX has a d16y8
I thought it might have been an LX because of the y7 and ac, but the LX has power windows and locks
Trim on the doors is silver so I know it's not a DX, plus the DX doesn't have AC either.
Any input on what sub model I have? It's not a big deal, I'd just like to know if I ever sell the car

AC and radio were probably added as accessories, you could do that to any of the cars.

But the engine code on the block and tranny is a d16y7

My catalog says that VIN is a
USA market 1999 Civic,
4 door
DX-V
Federal emissions
4 speed automatic trans
Exterior color code NH583M
FWIW, the HX only came in 2 door. (USA)

There are no EK's ever produced in N/A
All trim 3 door hatchback 6th gens are EJ6 in N/A.
EK9 is the Japanese JDM Type R.
And if it isn't clear, no Type R's were ever sold at retail in N/A as well.
That excludes all imports.
So now you know, when those idiots are running around telling everyone they have an EK.
Also, AFAIK....
All hatches only came in HX or DX trims in North America.
There are no EK's ever produced in N/A
All trim 3 door hatchback 6th gens are EJ6 in N/A.

And if it isn't clear, no Type R's were ever sold at retail in N/A as well.

you could also get the CX hatch, at least in Canada you could. which was the base of base with the d16y7 in it.
No ABS, No Power steering, No AC, No Rear Speakers, Basic AM/FM radio, Manual locks and windows, No Rear hatch Wiper, No Sway Bars, No Passenger Airbag, No Center console(Arm Rest). I think that is all, at least what i can remember, I only know this because I had one, it was the perfect type R rep if it was to be built since it is so base, but it being Canadian it was to far rotted and I sold it.
