2007 Honda Civic Squirelly when I hit a bump.

I was driving through town a few nights back and I hit a bump in the road not much to bother me but the rear end felt like it slid to a side. My wife looked at me a said what was that and my kids in the back also said weee. Could the control arm that is under the replacement bulletin be a cause of this I do have tire noise and am waiting to see if the tires I have are wearing uneven but they were new when I bought the car.

That arm replacement thing is about to expire
. Don't wait.
I think the 2nd week of January is the end of the program.

No, I doubt the arms are the cause, I have not heard that particular complaint associated with that issue.

Blown out shock in the rear though, maybe. The rear 'slide' feeling wouldn't be a one-time thing though if this was the issue.... I'd think you could get it to happen more than once.

I can duplicate it if I try. I dont notice it as much when my whole family is not in the car but when you have 3 kids one as big as an adult back there and you hit a little bump it will wake you up.

Go to your dealer today (or make an appointment), get the arms checked. At the same time, look at the rear shocks while it is in the air, leakage should be pretty apparent. Check tire pressures too, stuff like that.

Bounce the rear of the car too before you go. A single blown or weak shock will normally let one side bounce more than the other.

(They SHOULD be doing a visual inspection during the work already though, but that's anyones guess as to how observant anyone will be.)

For anyone that stumbles across this thread, the (US Class Action Settlement) warranty extension period has now officially ended.

All issues are now the customers' responsibility, not Hondas.
