Gas Mileage

Hey guys. So my gas mileage is horrible lately I'm getting 25 mpg and I do mostly city driving. More like 70% city and like 30% highway. But I still feel like this is horrible gas mileage for a civic. I get about 275 miles for a full tank until the light comes on. I keep it at 3k rpm and have my tires filled up with the correct amount of air. Only mods I have is an aem v2 intake and a cat back. I changed my spark plugs almost a year ago and have been keeping up with regular oil changes. I also have used the Lucas fuel injector cleaner a few times and it made the throttle response a little quicker but after a few days it's back to where it was before. What else should I look into? Thanks

Really? Big issue for you? 95% of my driving is city and I get about 25mpg after my head gasket change and I'm damn happy considering I drive with the a/c on about 100% of the time.

Immediately after my last tank of gas, I went in through the middle of town. You know, the kind where you go a block or two and wait. Repeat.
Under 25 MPG.

My usual route where I can go 45 MPH for at least a couple miles in a row at a time was giving me as much as 33-34 MPG while the weather was nice and warm.

Re: Gas Mileage

Understood.

I think I went off a little bit there. After all the work I put in this car by myself, HG job and such and then I read about people complaining about gas mileage.

I think I have to refrain myself a little and look at the big picture like you do ezone. Deal with one problem at a time, regardless how menial it may be to me or you.

BTW, no offense to the OP.

I can't EVEN explain my thought processes, seems to change on a whim. Depends entirely on unknown variables and a sliding scale with a weighted average. And a bell curve.

From last week. Music starts around 35 minutes in.

Re: Gas Mileage

What I've learned about these cars, and probably all cars, is that gas mileage varies a lot depending on the type of driving and quality of gas. For my car its been as bad 23 MPG and can get up to 44 MPG.

I get from 24-26 MPG driving to work 5 days a week in stop and go city traffic, with lots of waiting at stoplights (about 15 minutes each day, yes I've timed it). I average 27 MPG if I shift at 2000 rpm but usually I'm impatient and shift at 3500 and brake very hard and frequently. That gets me around 24-25 mpg.

The best I've gotten was 45 MPG when I filled up at a station with no Ethanol and got on the interstate and filled up 100 miles later without using AC and in 70 degree weather.
