Vtec issues
Hey guys, what's going on. New member here, have been reading stuff throughout the years on this board, and the information is great. However I have a problem that hasn't been addressed yet that I could find an answer too.
Ok here goes. I have a 2002 Civic Ex coupe 1.7 Vtec motor. I'm a mechanic, car is well maintained and kept. Has 194k with 70% highway miles.
The car blew a head gasket last month, I changed the Headgasket. After changing it everything worked good for 2-3 days. No codes, no problems. Then the Mulitplex/fuse box went bad. Changed that, and everything worked great. First day out after that the 1259 Vtec code came up. (changed the original back in 2009). Checked screen, all is fine. Still an issue. The oil level is fine. Bit the bullet and got a new one, same problem. Didn't fix anything.
Could it be an electrical issue, something fried in the ECM from the multiplex issue, a gasket oring or something I didn't replace during the head gasket job or what? O rings under the rocker pedistals? This is my GFs car so I don't drive it all the time so I can't really judge if it's semi engaging or not as I'm not that familiar with the car. It's bone stock the way it should be, as it was designed to be a grocery getter so there are no mods at all.
