2001 Civic Brake Switch Button/Stopper - One Hour Of Labor??!

Hello All,

With my tail lights staying on after turning the car off, I had to take my '01 Civic into my mechanic, not knowing what was going on.

So, it turned out to be the brake lights staying on - all they had to done was put in a new little plastic pin button/stopper - the part itself only cost $2.50.

Except they charged for one hour of labor, which was about $85.

Isn't this something that should take a professional just a few minutes?

Very frustrated right now!

They probably don't prorate the labor charge.. So.. anything from 1-60 minutes would be charged 1 hour, 61-120 minutes 2 hours, 121-180 minutes 3 hours, etc...

Another reason I hardly take my car to shops to get fixed..

At least to some degree, they do. I've paid for half an hour of labor before at the same place.
