Ground Control Question
Hey guys,
After doing a *brief* search, I didn't find the exact issue I'm having, so I decided to just ask the question, seeing as how I'm a suspension noob.
I'm currently running my GC's about 65-70% to the lowest setting, on stock shocks (bad idea, I know, but I'm saving for D-Specs which are $800, and I don't think the shocks/struts have anthing to do with this), and whenever I lower the car down from the jack, the passenger side clunks from the upper mount/strut bearing sliding into place in the strut mount. This does not happen on the driver's side. My question is, why? Is the strut mount oriented wrong, or is that just how it is? Is is possible to get some sort of "helper springs" to keep a load on the mounts/bearings to keep them in place?
When I get new shocks and mounts, I'd prefer this doesn't happen anymore. When I drive the car, everything is dandy, no clunks, just a bit bouncy lol.
Any suggestions?

Re: Ground Control Question
Fair enough...I kinda figured it was just something that happened when there is absolutely no load on the upper mounts, as they aren't normally allowed to fall out with the stock suspension, and coilovers ar a single unit and can't do that...just figured I'd ask around.

Re: Ground Control Question
i have GC and and this happens to me as well.
it clunks/pops because the top hat+bearing isnt perfectly aligned to the hat housing.
this is normal for cars with short length coil springs.
what you want to do is to lower ur car slowly (with ur hydraulic jack or whatever) and then stop it when u have a have about 3" of tire gap. then take a stick or something (do not use ur hand) and wedge the hat in the housing. it should pop softly in without much problems. then continue lowering ur car with the jack.
