DIY: Beginner/Intermediate Skill

Hey:

I'm looking for some DIY projects that I can do to increase the performance of a '97 Civic with manual transmission. Right now my mechanical skills are limited to basics (oil changes, brake changes, etc), but I'm looking to try to broaden my scope and work my way up. Any suggestions to projects I can try by myself that'll help out?

Sadly, my budget is limited to like $250-350

Thanks for the help!

check around the threads here, there are a couple good ones on replacement parts and brands. its pretty easy, mostly loosening nuts and bolts. its easier than oil change. i would recommend a service manual too for reference that you can see how stuff comes apart and bolt torque etc.
