think of how hard it would be to modify? and the cost of the parts?

you would need like an electrical engineering degree........

Hybrid cars work by the engine charging the batteries and then the batteries powering the car. The engine has little or no affect on the HP or anything else, so to get anything "more powerful" you would have to modify the batteries to put out more, and the electric engine not the gas. VERY expensive and complicated.

I would think about driving it for the gas milage not for speed.

If they made a coupe or hatchback(SI style) of the hybrid, I would consider it.

travii -- that's not how the current hybrids (insight, civic, prius, etc) work. the engine provides most of the power while the electric motor provides addtional kick for acceleration. the gas engine shuts off whenever you let your foot off the gas. i beleive the electric motor is the main source while cruising on the highway. you are right about the engine recharging the batteries though; they're also recharged by kinetic energy from braking.

maybe we should consider adding the electric components to our cars to get some extra boost for our playstations, LCDs, and 3000W audio systems... hit the brakes for more bass!

I think it was a bad choice for Honda to make a hybrid for the civic. They should of realized that the civic is made more for the teenager and young men and women. Power is not everything to young people but they should make it more appealing in power, looks, etc, than to make it a hybrid. I think it would have been better to make a hybrid civic and still continue with the other models. Oh, if they are still making the other model civics for 2003 then I guess I am an idiot. Peace.

i would definitely drive the hybrid.... i would drive it into my friends garage.. and were gonna gut the car for the parts.. keep some on my civic and sell the rest. i like the front grill/bumper look. reminds me of the 95 model face a little.

I would pimp one of those out in a heartbeat for the following reasons

1-its a sedan
2-i like to go cruising and i could cruise forever with that ride
3-im environmentally conscious
4-i wouldnt get as many speeding tickets

besides, if the acceleration is all engine, then why couldnt you boost it? that way, when youre racing, you have the power and when youre just cruising, you have the economy

you guys are so funny... "OMG! the hybrid is SOOOOO G-A-Y!!! its a piece of sh*T!!!111! i'd NEVER drive one of those!!!1!"

cuz, uh, our "normal" civics are such super-high-performance machines...? WTF! the hybrid is supposed to be able to do 0-60 in ~11 seconds... slow, but for 50MPG that's pretty damn sweet. but, i suppose you just don't care cuz your civic is a whopping THREE FULL SECONDS faster... w00t! you're so fast! OMG! hope you get a gold medal for fastest driver in the special olympics!!!

even if you win, you're still a f*cking retard.

haha.

The hybrid's a commuter car... at least with the other civics on the market, they have some potential, but 84 horses?? The only place that goes is to the grocery store. Maybe some day if they're still on the market I'll buy that and a fast IS300... one for speed and style, other to rack up cheap mileage on.

Every friday the USA today reviews a new car in the life section. about a month and a half ago they reviewed the hybrid. There tests showed that the car got notning near the fuel rating the dealer claimed, they claimed only 5 mpg better then the HX.

civics are not made for younger people, they designed them to sell to everyone from old people to teenagers

imagine how funny it would be if you took it and made it a rice rocket. You need a triple wing and the biggest exhaust system that you could possibly buy. I think that the hybrid would look very funny.
