Why is the 07' Civic so choppy?

I was just wondering if anyone might know why the 07' Honda Civic seems to be choppy? I just bought it certified pre-owned and have a limited window to make sure all the issues are taken care of. It runs mostly well other than when braking it seems to lurch a little more than I'm accustomed to. I've read elsewhere that this is normal and is the result of oversensitive ABS. Anyone know if this is a design of the car or a mechanical issue? If it is the ABS is that something the dealer can adjust because I love the car other than this pain in the ***. Also seems hesitant when accelerating sometimes.

What do you mean by "lurch"? Do the brakes pulse or does the ABS kick in? If you don't know what ABS feels like it feels like the whole car is gonna shake apart.
