I bought a 2006 Honda Civic LX from a small dealer yesterday. Much to my (and the dealer's) surprise the front speakers did not work in the vehicle when I turned on the radio. He offered to repair them, but I got him to take $200 off the car and I decided to fix them myself (I live about 3 hours away from the dealership). So what could be the problem? I tried the fuse box, and now I'm going to test the wires to the speakers and check the back of the head unit, but before I do that I want to see what someone else thinks the problem could be. I am really not experienced at all in doing these sorts of things, but a dealership would rip me off and I don't have anyone nearby that would know how to fix it. So what should I do?

im not too familiar with the door panels on any newer civics but i do know that the plastic clips they use(at least on the old ladys 07 lx) are really easy to break so dont force any apart if you dont have the right tools for the job.

its the crappy windows seals. it lets water down the door and screws the connectors to the speakers up. i went through this just a month ago went and bought some speakers and cut the clips off and hardwired them and bam front speakers again. hope this helps

I know the front door speakers are easy to blow,the previous owner of my 2006 blew out the left front,I replaced both front door speakers with kenwoods and they worked fine.
One time during a particularly fierce storm some what got inside,I opened it up and put some electrical tape around the connectors,no problems since.
