how hard and how much does this usually cost? wondering if its cheaper to just buy a manuel rather than an auto to convert. T.I.A.

No problem, usually people only do auto-to-manual swaps if there car is unbelievably mint or they have a lot of money into it already. Selling and buying a manual is always more affordable.
