Re: questions about the mini me vtec swap

if the engine is out make sure that you have a new timing belt, accessory belts and water pump in it. Keep in mind that the d16y7 bottom end in stock form is not that strong of a bottom end and usually does not hold up to high revs that well, so do not expect to be able to hammer on it all the time and have it last. The d16y8 bottom end is stronger than the d16y7. The compression will also be bumped up with this swap giving around 135 hp or so. Keep on top of maintenance and take it easy on it until the engine is broken in if you had a complete rebuild done.

well backfiring means you are not getting a complete fuel burn, run fuel injection cleaner through the fuel tank (I happen to like seafoam for this but there are other good brands) also check all 4 plugs and let me know what the tips look like, (black, brown, white etc.)

Re: questions about the mini me vtec swap

ill do that tonight, it seems to only run rough when its cold once it warms up it seems to get better, what it does is when i start it, it just stalls unless you give it gas rite off, but while your reving it its sputtering and as soon as u let off it will stall for the first few times.
