99 civic lx 4 cylinder

my 99 civic lx suddenly died while driving 60 mph down the highway. we pulled to the side & tried to start it but it will not start. it will turnover but not engage. i had someone look at it & they believe it's the coil pack. this person is not a mechanic but he does all the work on his own vehicles, which are in excellent condition. keep in mind that the intake heater hose had a leak & it overheated but the car drove fine after the hose was replaced until this but would run hot if allowed to idle without the air recirculation on. is there anyone with some advice on where to begin solving this? thanks.

Re: 99 civic lx 4 cylinder

It doesn't fire at all?
Test to see if there is spark.
Check fuel pressure if spark is fine.

Overheating is a different issue. I mean if the overheating had caused damage it isn't like the engine would die all of a sudden.
