Re: head

Um, To my knowledge you cant use a B series head on a D series block. You can use the D15 head on a D16. Which isnt a bad idea since the D15 has a bit more of an aggressive cam(bigger lobes/lift).

About the Turbo, I have seen many people put Turbo onto a D16Z6 w/ stock pistons and such. It works, but once they get past 10 pounds of boost they always end up throwing a rod or spinning a bearing. I'd imagine thats because the stock Z6 has 9:1 compression. Most turbo setups use 8:1 or 8.5:1.

Idk if you understand what Turbo does, Turbo... compresses/forces air into you engine, which increases the compression dramatically(Hence the reason people throw rods). So it is a good idea to have a beefy, low compression engine, if your gonna be throwing 18 pounds of boost on the car. Which would be any piston with a dish, not a dome(Stock Z6 has a .2 dome or something like that.).

Nitrous on the other hand, is great for high compression motors. Since Nitrous is doing nothing more than enhancing the fuel combustion rate.(Which also throws rods... IF you dont have the right rods.)

Nitrous or Turbo, I'd suggest Eagle H beam Rods. 309$ off Ebay for a brand new set, Just make sure you get name brand pistons like Wiseco, or Eagle, Something that has a wrist pin AND a seat pin that stops the wrist pin form moving side to side. You dont want to end up w/ pistons that dont attack to your rods.

FYI, Wiseco has the meanest pistons for Turbo, IMO. They dont even make High compression pistons for Z6 Lol.

If you are having trouble figuring all that out, lemme know, I can get some professionals to find you a good set up.

I just got a quote for 1,400$ on the dot(Shipping included) Which would get me Rods, Bearings, Pistons, Rings, Valves, Retainers. All top notch/name brand parts. set up for nitrous @ 10.5:1 compression ratio :P I cant wait to get it. If you swap to a D15 head, you could just have it milled down .010 for more compression. But rather than that. Piston & valves are about the only thing thats gonna help your compression. And a cam for response. Which you COULD, instead of buying a D15 head for 100-500$, Just buy a Stage 2 or 3 Crower Cam ++ The milled head($40 on average, for mill)

Whats your budget?
