I bought my 2002 ex Civic a few months back, and I did not notice this issue until maybe a month or two ago. Even when my AC is off their is still air coming out, I looked around under my hood and I can't see any Open or unconnected hoses. Does anybody have any advice on what I can do to find the problem, or if this has happened to them and they have fixed it what was it?

Is the a/c compressor running at all under the hood when the **** is selected off? When you say there is air coming out...is it cold??

My civic has air blowing through it all the time when its off. Try driving with the windows rolled up at 60-70mph, put you hand next to a vent to feel air. Then roll a window down and you can feel the increase of air going through it.

Stupid question: Is your re-circ button on? If it's not, air will blow in without the blower being on.

i don't think i ever put my recirculate on haha. i will try this later today see if it will fix it.

strange thing is the air coming out is whatever i set the temp at. either hot or cold.
i only hear the compressor on when i push in the AC button. other than that it doesn't appear to be on.
i will try the windows down thing. what would it mean if more air comes in?

it turns out that the recirculate was the problem. haha just turned it on and left it on even when i turn off the ac. no more air blowing when its not supposed to thanks guys.

yeah the air intake ducts under the wipers let air in when the car is moving, even without the fan being on, if you have it set to fresh air mode.

FYI: If you leave the re-circ button on when you turn the car off all the time you can sometimes develop mold or fungus in the airbox.

yeah i never use recirc unless there is heavy exhaust ahead or dust. and i usualy switch it off a minute later.

To bad it doesn't stop those heavy diesel trucks from spitting out black exhaust in front of you when your windows are rolled down.

haha so then tell me if the ac is off and i have the recir off why does the air blowing in still blow hot or cold depending on what i have it set to??

and i dont want mold so what should i do? is there a way not to have air blow in and not get mold. haha idk im ocd about this xD

keep it in fresh air mode if you dont mind a lil bit of air blowing in while moving. the temp dial works because all that does is open or close the passage to the heater core. air still goes thru the vents from outside to inside. it just depends if it goes past the heater core or not depending on the temp you have set.

Put it in re-circ when driving then go to fresh air right before you shut it off. It's a habit you'll have to make for yourself. Just like I had to train myself not to lock myself out of the car after I disengaged the door chime. Thank you wallet key. lol.

haha i can do that habit. my mother made me do that to her van but i didnt know why xD i didnt believe it did anything wrong hahahaha but hey mother knows best in this case =P
