When I close the hatch, there is twice more space on one side of the hatch than the other side. Would it be likely that my hatch/door has warped? It opens and closes without issues. It's always been like this since I bought it used, so whatever caused this to happen was done before I owned the car.

Check and see if one of the hinges is bent or missing it's bushings. If it's the hinge and it's bolted in you can probably buy a new hinge. If it's welded or riveted the easiest thing to do is take it to a body shop. It's a simple fix for them and shouldn't be real expensive. Body shop replaced the hinge bushing in my friend's S-10 for $25.
