95 ex coupe- a few questions
hello all. i just picked up a 1995 ex coupe today. not a bad little car but does need a few little things. just looking for some advice from some people who know more about the car than i do. first off the cruise control doesnt work. not sure where to start diagnosing there so if there's anything common let me know. also the driver's seat is a little worn out. i was wondering if seats from any other civics fit in here without any modifications. anything else i should know about this car let me know. thanks for any input
Re: 95 ex coupe- a few questions
Ah, who uses cruise control anyway?
I absolutely love my 95 ex coupe. It had a warranty replacement of the oxygen sensor early on, and now the CEL is telling me something to do with the HO2s heater circuit at 142k mi. Other than that she has been trouble free except for the normally expected things, clutch replaced around 93k which was kind enough to blow out on the drive to vegas just as I pulled into the parking space at the motel. Also keep an eye on the axle (cv) boots - time for new ones if you see grease all over the wheel well interior. Also had a cotter pin either break or wiggle out after not being replaced properly and the front wheel came off (also kindly, as I finished parking at my mother's house) but I don't think that is common occurrence.
Worth noting though, while other vehicles of the same era (Mom's Nissan, Dad's Impala, Hubby's BMW) are suffering from disintegrating plastic and rubber bits that turn to dust with the poke of a finger, my Civic has held up remarkably well despite the fact that it wasn't even garaged for most of its life. Headliner doesn't even sag.
Also you may want to check if its still ranking in the top 10 most frequently stolen cars in the US - I know it was still in that list either last year or the year before. Apparently its got the same computer in it as the Acura Integras which is what makes it a yummy target. But I love that I have a fifteen year old car that starts on a dime every time. In fact, the only thing that ever made me think of getting a new car was the billboard ad I saw for the '06 Civic SI. (Meanwhile, my partner has gone through three BMW 3-series cars and much $$ in repairs in the last 10 years leaving me and my trusty 95 ex to chauffer him around while his is out of commission. Honda wins!)
