Expected Resale Value? '01 EX Coupe w/ Blown Head Gasket
Expected Resale Value? '01 EX Coupe w/ Blown Head Gasket
My 01 Civic EX started overheating randomly so I took it into the dealership and they ran some tests and found hydrocarbons in the coolant indicating a blown head gasket. I was told it's at least $1200 to fix, but it could be more once they take everything apart and they check the engine sleeves for warping.
Someone suggested instead of fixing it, that I get an engine at a local pick & pull for ~$700-$800 and replace the whole thing.
But I was thinking of selling it even before the blown head gasket but I have no idea what the market is so I just wanted to get an idea of how much you guys think I could get for it if I sold it as-is.
Miles: 127k
Color: Silver
Condition: Blown Head Gasket. Otherwise great condition. All maintenance was performed on time and everything is up-to-date.

Replacing a head gasket is not hard to do. I did mine when I recently put my stage 2 cam in, and stronger valve springs. Try to find a friend to help you do it. I think $1,200 is WAY too much.. And they'll assrape you and tell you to replace things that don't even need to be replaced just go get more money out of you.

I recently did the head gasket in my civic as well. It really was not all that hard, just take your time and do it yourself. It will cost you in total 250 bucks or so if you do it yourself
