I live in Saskatchewan and couldn't get gas on my way to job site. The needle is now on 'E' and it's -33C here. It's a 1990 Civic, Sedan, Automatic, total tank capacity is 11.9 gallon.
Please help me figure out if I'll be needing to ask for emergency roadside on my way home (78 km).

lol funniest post by far.. its around 50 miles.. I have done like maybe 50 after my gas light came on probably less.. if you drive like a grandma I think you will make it

You give me hope!! But any idea how much fuel it takes in your car for 50 miles? Distance depends on fuel efficiency of the car and differs from one car to another. I know my car's fuel efficiency so if I know how much fuel is there (in liters) I'll calculate how far that's going to take me.

it also depends on the car how much reserve capacity you have. sometimes when the gas light comes on, i have 8 liters. but other times only 4. so i would say just pick 4 liters as a low point and calculate from there based on your kpg. to get the most distance, drive no faster than 90 kph and feather the gas pedal as much as possible.
