94 Civic VX...yes..VX..and i need help

hey people im a noob to the site..... i have a 94 civic hatch that is sputtering a lot. it also will not let me accelerate thru 3500 rpms at all. it's like it redlines at 3500 and will not provide any power. im not sure if its the type of engine or a problem internally. it sounds like a exhaust leak but ive checked all that. i got the car from a friend that lives in the high country of AZ and it was sitting there for awhile. ive done all the quick changes(fuel filter, plugs, battery) but ive only had it a week...
any help would be great
thanks

Could be a few differant things, a clogged cat, timming belt jumped a tooth or you have plug wires on wrong.
Check the firing order on the spark plugs. make sure they are right. 1-3-4-2 is the order.
If thats ok unbolt te exhaust in front of the cat, look to see if it is clogged and run it with it unbolted to see if it runs any bettter. If you say it sounds like it has an exhaust leak it could be it is cloged. The exhaust has to go some where. so it forces it self out where ever it can. Sounds like this is the problem.

If not bolt it back togther check the timming on it. you may need some help from a shop or someone who has done this before if you never have. if it has jumped a tooth or 2 on the belt it will be way under power.
Hope this helps you alil
