Oil Change - 2007 Civic Si Sedan
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to change the oil filter on a 2007 Civic Si without making a complete mess?
I'm not new to oil changes however without a lift or garage I'm finding this to be a challenge.
Please help me out!

Because of the position of the filter there will always be some oil that will mess thinks up, my suggestion would be to wrap the filter in a rags as you are replacing it.

Obviously there is going to be some spillage with any fluid changes, hence the reason for the post. And again the purpose of the post to avoid going to a service center.
Please only post suggestions that actually apply to the question.

they make roll out "garage cushion" which is kinda like a thin blue mat about the size of the whole car. just roll it out, drive the car over it, and change the oil. then roll it back up and reuse it. if it gets nasty, usually you can clean it with some orange soap. they make disposable ones too.

Heres what I did last time. If you jack the car up and take off the front passenger side wheel you can get to the filter from the side (You'll be happy your not right underneath). I jammed some paper towels under the filter, and backed it off some. Let some oil drain out. I tightened it back down, got some fresh paper towels and repeated. Getting a good chunk of the oil out really cut down on the mess vs. the first time I changed the oil (Tried the plastic bag over the filter and that was a real fail.)
Throw down some cardboard or something you don't care about to absorb the oil before you start to change it too.

Thanks for the ideas. I think I'm going to try a combination of them.
I need to replace a headlight so it isn't that bad to take the wheel of because it's almost required in order to get to the bulb.
For the price of Mobile 1 Synthetic, I want to do it myself to keep the cost of an oil change somewhat reasonable.
