New Civic Owner and noob to the Forum.

Hey. New to the site and I recently got my hands on a 99' Civic DX Hatchback and wanted to get some info and advise on it. I myself drive a 2003 Widebody Tiburon but it's not winter drivin so I got myself a civic for those couple months. The thing runs perfectly fine, no serious problems with it so it's going to be a great project car when the tib comes back out. There's going to be some lame questions, whereas I'm just getting familiar with honda's but what better place to ask then on the interwebz

First question,
I imagine the engine is a D series, D16 maybe? how to I find this out if I'm wrong.

I don't plan on making the thing look good, just more of a slight sleeper look with a lip kit. Power is the way to go for me. Now beside the obvious engine swap and i/h/e, whats some other bolt ons I could throw on there.

And feel free to throw in any other kind of advice you could give me. Maybe link some other threads that could be of some use to me on here. Like I said I'm just tryin to familiarize my self with these cars. I'm used to a hyundai remember

Thanks alot

I think I figured out what engine is in the car. D16Y7, is this correct? an what are the options for this engine, as in bolt ons

Welcome, I'm pretty new myself and it seems these boards are relatively quiet. Anyhow yeah your engine is the D16y7. Bolt ons will do diddly squat for you. Your options are as followed...

Mini-me swap - Thats swapping out the heads and intake manifold of the D16y8 (ex engine) onto the y7.

D16y7 to a D16y8 swap - That will get you about 20-25 more hp and vtec.

Supercharger - This one I'm actually looking into becuase it seems this may be the more practical option to go with.

Turbo - If you got a manual tranny then I'd go for this route over the Supercharger.

Good luck.
