Brake Reservoir Cap Parts Break down help
Brake Reservoir Cap Parts Break down help
Good day!
So i am building a brake pressure bleeder out of a garden spray bottle. I just bought a used brake cap and took it apart.
The car that i am trying to bleed is a 2005 Honda civic. The following image below is the break down of the cap (bought one from a junker)

What is the rubber part on the right for? Also what is the purpose of the white part?
Also in the reservoir there is a screen assy. is it removable?
Thanks

i believe that white part holds the black rubber, which "seals" the cap from the brake fluid spilling if somehow ur brake fluid boils n spills out.

Re: Brake Reservoir Cap Parts Break down help
yeah you really dont want dirt and water vapor in the brake fluid so the cap is very well sealed.
Re: Brake Reservoir Cap Parts Break down help
Thanks guys for the help
So i've modified the cap into what i want to be. I had to take the white part out and use a 3/4" scotch-brite pad and grind down the center raised portions.
I am going to take some RTV and seal the white part onto the cap (fillet seal). I then put the rubber on, and punched a hole through the center to allow for a fitting to pass through. I am going to seal the rubber to the white part, as well as seal the area around the fitting where the rubber meets.
If this works out, i'll take photos.
