Getting my ep3 !!!! i NEED Suggestions
Well im getting my ep3 soon and i wanted to see how to start modifying it so i could boost it,obviously it comes with a k series and they can stand more boost(HOPEFULLY),ima start of putting a cold air intake in it, exhaust system,
racing headers, upgraded fuel injectors. so once i got all of this installed, where should i take it from there to have it upgraded enough to boost it?
HELP!!!!!!!!
ps.anybody know where i can get a turbo kit under 1k? if not would it work to buy some cheap piping kit with boost controller all that and apply a garret turbo or a turbonetic?

Re: Getting my ep3 !!!! i NEED Suggestions
Same here, I just got my EP3 and done some research, but under 1K really limits your options..., most likely used kit.
I'd just eat dollar menu for few months and save extra cash for a new kit.
I'm looking into Greddy bolt($2500) on with Intercooler($800).
I know I'm not gonna get whole lot of increase, but I had Greddy on my 99 Si before and didn't have any serious issue, so I'm considering it again.

If you're refering to intercooler piping, don't really think it'd matter.
But as for piping connecting in & out of turbine and such..., I'm not sure cuz I never had to assemble custom built turbo. However, I think it'd be okay since it's only for letting the air travel in/out. But, for the manifold, try to get new or good used one.
As for my ep3, it's silver with AEM coldair and custom exhaust and minor accessories here and there. But I'm gonna do it over and give it a good make over. Still comtemplating to go Greddy turbo w/ intercooler or just do all motor.
Below is what I'm looking into:
Skunk2 full coilover kit with rear camber kit, Injen short ram air, spoon N1 exhaust with megan header, skunk2 throttle body and intake manifold, and if I can find them; SSR 16" RS-Beta wheels(damn, it brings me the memories...).
I know all these bolt-ons won't compare to having a turbo boost, but my ep3 has 78,000 miles on it and unless I do the motor work, I don't wanna force induction it.

Re: Getting my ep3 !!!! i NEED Suggestions
yea im not looking for boost before i get headers, exhaust system ,, you know all those parts that i dont wanna risk when puttin on a turbo, can u tell me what performance parts should get before actually going forced induction? can anyone tell me,,,,,im not lookin on paying a whole lot you know, the money is not big right now
Re: Getting my ep3 !!!! i NEED Suggestions
it doesnt matter what kind of piping you get. they all do the exact same thing. the reason 90% of people go with a full kit that already has the piping for your car is because its annoying to get a do it yourself kit and cut and measure everything to fit perfectly. greddy, dezod, tsi, etc etc all have piping that is designed specifically for your car. so it just depends on if its worth it to you or not. i think when youre looking at boosting, piping is the last thing to worry about. its straight forward hollow pipe that just needs to physically be put in place. worry about getting a good intercooler, good quality turbo, solid lines, kpro, injectors etc etc.
you wont do any of this for under 1000. kpro for your tuning alone is like 1100

oh man...be happy im a nice guy. once some of the other guys see this thread youre going to get flamed big time. you have some really really bad questions that can easily be answered by going into the force induction/swap section and just reading some simple stuff in there. theres a bunch of faqs for turboing and stuff like that too. i know a bunch of people have literally encyclopedias written on everything you need to know and more on here, just search for it.
an intake wont do anything to save your engine from a turbo. everything depends on what your power goals are and how much boost you are going to be using. if you stick to 7psi less on a d17, you will be fine on stock internals. i dont know about a k20, im thinking you can probably go 9psi or less on stock. other than installing the kit itself, getting kpro, a good tune, and upgrading your injectors, you should not need much else but your stock engine to run a low psi. the higher you want to run (more power) means starting to swap stock parts out of the engine.

another thing to keep in mind; intake, header, and other bolt-on's will be replaced with a turbo kit, so I'd just save up and wait for ultimate make-over. I mean, you could sell the parts on Clist or ebay and such, but you won't get your money back anywhere near what you originally spent. And don't believe the numbers some of these companies offer you with claimed HP gain, you won't gain 20 HP just by adding coldair intake, and adding "power by honda" decal does not add 5 HP either, LOL.
FYI, do some more research on various forums and such, there are plenty of feebacks/product ratings on different performance parts.
