Unhappy 98 Civic LX problems

OK here's a list of my issues;

1. The headlights are not working properly. Over the years and after many cheap bulbs the sockets burnt up and had to be replaced. I'm on my second set of sockets now and I think I may have wired it wrong because the headlights themselves turn on, but when I activate the highbeams they shut off. Also visually the passenger side light appears to be brighter than the drivers side. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as to how to correct this.

2. The car has a weak start up. I'm not sure if its the battery, bad grounding points, or something else. Nothing else is wrong here it just sounds weak. Once I start it up and it fires everything is all good.

3. When I turn into a driveway or small hill the car creaks. Is that something to concern myself with or is that just normal for a car thats over a decade old?

Please help, thanks.
