Angry 2002 Honda Civic LX

I have a clunking sound coming from the driver's front side of my Civic LX 5 speed. It has just become noticeable in the past week.
Is this hard to repair by myself? Any specialzed tools required?

Thanks, Brian

Re: 2002 Honda Civic LX

clunking could be all sorts of things. if its just a single clunk, it may be a loose tie rod or a cracked strut mount bearing. just have the whole suspension checked and all bolts retightened. if thats okay, the noise prolly is nothing serious.

Does the car need a wheel alignment after ball joint replacement? Same question for strutts - I'm a new backyard mechanic. Help - please and thanks!

Re: 2002 Honda Civic LX

mine had some sort of clunk sound on the driver side, i took it to a shop and the guy couldnt figure it out, he suggested i get new struts, but then he opened the hood and pushed down on the car and we could see that the driver side strut was loose.

check if your strut has come loose, even if you never touched it. I've never messed with the suspension and somehow it came loose.
