That could be a good deal. Get a mechanic to check it out. Check the suspension out as well. Where are the stock wheels?

Have him take the car to a mechanic of your choice and tell the mechanic to look over it. I got my mechanic to check over mine for free (he gets all of my family's business though). If you trust your buddy that the car is in good condition then just buy it.

i just talked to my buddy and he said i just gotta bring it by and he will check it out, any tips to make it quicker, it already has a dc sport header with a cat delete exhaust with it

Buy a different car if you want it to be much quicker than it already is. Civics aren't quick without putting some serious money into them.

it really depends what condition its in. older cars could have tons of problems and it takes a trained eye to find them. there are alot of things that could go wrong. so it really needs a full inspection at least by a mechanic but there are some things you need to check on your own and by driving it.

go for it... I got my 97 for less than $2000, and after a $1200 paint job it's a really nice car, but if you get a Civic and like modifying it, you'll end up spending a bunch of money (I have)... get some new wheels though haha

omg.. cam gears only move the power band around on a single cam. and only make power with a dyno. and what does suspension have to do with horsepower? seriously dude if you think a intake and exhaust will give you 35hp you dont belong anywhere near a car.
Re: Im New here, need opinions
If you're going for power, don't waste your money with those bolt ons on your D series... just pick up a B16A, they aren't too much money nowadays and there's 60% more horsepower, plus if you're motor already has 232,000 miles on it you probably don't want to be pushing it too hard anyway...
I have intake, exhaust, and an EX (Y8) manifold on my D-series and it still sucks, trust me

lol yeah on a stock cam. it moves the power band around man. your not going to make any more power with a cam gear on a single cam. you cant advance the intake or the exhaust individually. hence advancing will move your powerband lower and retarding moves it higher (but dosent change your red line) on duel cams you can change the relation between the two which can yeild some power gains with stock cams. but you need to have a dyno to find them.
