diy springs
alright i might give this a 3rd try....
the front: when you take out those two bolts from the bottom of the strut, the brake rotor(or whatever) tilts down.... i'm guessing you have to hold it up some how but HOW??? also is it hard to push back in to re-attach the strut to it?
the back: anyone know where i could rent a GOOD spring compresser? before i used these from autozone...
and they were a pain in the butt to use cause it was so big. and i had adjust two seperarte ones(one for each side of the spring). anyone know where i could rent those big $400 ones? or atleast the "clamp" ones, here's a picture... www.geocities.com/lilseouljah/attached.jpg.

Some local automotive stores allow you "borrow" or rent special tools from them. Like here in Canada, we have Canadian Tire, and they will loan you a tool to do a job that requires something that you might only need one time. Or you might be able to go to an equiptment rental place and rent one.
Good Luck
Good Luck
I used some cheap compressors when I did it. Similar to these but with two claws in the ends they where a bit bulky to but you only need them one time per spring For the rotor/hub thing I guess you could jack it up or as I did it wih a helper holding it first then I tied it up with a wire to the mount of the brake line (the place where the tube connects to the hose)
get someone to press their foot on the caliper, pushing it down, allowing you to remove or install the strut.
Its harder to put back in. But with some muscle, its not so bad.
Good luck bro!

You really doesn't have to push it down with so much muscle if you jack up both the right and left side of the front at the same time. So I remember anyway

ya taking it off is easy, but i'm sure putting it back on is a bitch. n i also dont think it's good for the rotor to just hang, so thats why i what it to be held up while its not attached to the strut. someone said his axles or whatever dislodged from the cv joint or something n he had to open it, put it back in, pack it with grease, tie it again... n this is something i dont want to do cause damn i dont even know how to explain it or know what a cv joint is
after you jack up the front of your car, support both sides with jackstands, then use the floorjack to support the hub. this way, you can use the jack to help put everything back together--just jack up the hub until it is at the correct height.
p.s. -- the cv joint is a flexible component in the axle that allows for suspension travel. as the suspension moves up and down over bumps, the cv allows the axle to move with it.
