NEw Shocks HELP!

So what happened was, my tires, just the front ones, were wearing out
pretty quickly, went to the shop got new ones, and i asked them why.
They said cause the previous owner decided not to lower the car the right way,
and just used a torch to cut the shocks or spring something like that. Which is causing all the problems.

They sent me to a shop where they do suspension, they charging me 800$ for all 4 corners, parts, labor, plus a free allignment. I think they said the brand was tokico or something like that.

My question is, is this a good deal?? or a rip-off
keep in my mind i like cars, but not so good with all the parts, and stuff haha.

Thanks

sorry if its long

Re: NEw Shocks HELP!

its ok that its long. better than just saying something is wrong and asking for help.

The question i have is what did they change?
if new shocks, tokicos are pretty good. but not 800 good.
if you have cut springs you would need new springs. and 800 for springs shocks alignment and labor isn't too bad.

Re: NEw Shocks HELP!

350 tokico blues
and 450 for install+alignment?

thats a ripp off....up the ***....

install usually is 200 and most shops will either align it for you for free or give you a nice discount like 50% off so u only have to pay like 40-50$ for an alignment.

Re: NEw Shocks HELP!

well i have'nt done it yet, i wanted to find out if it was a good deal.

All i know is that they used a torch on all four corners to drop the car.
what they cut on the shocks or if they cut the springs i have no clue.

Im planning on calling tomorrow, to find out what exactly are the prices on specific things like shocks and labor. The total is only what i know, which includes all the parts, and labor.

he also mentioned, that each shock is somehing like 98$ and they have them in a set of 4 so together its 392$ which means labor is 408$???

BTW its a 2000 honda civic.

Thanks Again.

Re: NEw Shocks HELP!

you need new lowering springs too, those cut ones are garbage. $100-200 for a set of springs, $350 for set of tokico shocks, $150 for camber kits, $100 alignment, and $250 for install should be reasonable. so 800 isnt bad if it includes springs, shocks, camber kit, and alignment.
