I recently just got a 94 civic ex. I am looking into fixing it up a little but not sure where to start. I know it already has a cold air intake not sure which one. i was looking at the dc sports 4-1 header but not sure if thats what i need. Just looking to add a little horsepower here and there. Dont want to engine swap or anything. Any advise would be appreciated.

Welcome to the site. Not going to see much hp change between any after market header. Just get what you want. Stay away from ebay though.

Would getting a chip or tuning my ecu be beneficial to me?

It probably only be really beneficial if you put in an aftermarket cam and did extensive modifications to the engine first.

If I were to start modifying my engine could i do it piece by piece or would i have to do it all at once? Don't mean to ask so many stupid questions but im pretty new to this lol. Thanks again for your help

Well like i said before I'm not trying to make it a racer or anything just a little stronger more beefy if you know what i mean. I'm not to sure how the previous owner took care of it. It seems to run fine. I guess I'm just trying to look for mid range parts that I could add on here and there.

I'm not really sure what you mean. You either do the standard intake, header, and exhaust that everyone does (not me though) for a slight bit of mostly unnoticeable power along with more sound or you spend a coupe thousand on going NA, turbo or supercharger which will make it a lot more beefy.
