1992 Civic DX AUTOMATIC shifts but will not go anywhere
Car was driving perfect this morning then all of a sudden just doesn't grip any more in any gears. Every time I put it into "P", turn off the engine, and then turn it on again, switch it into a gear, I would get a little grip. I was driving perfect this morning. Once again, I can shift the lever into any gear, but it just won't bite on it.
Things I have tried already:
1) flush tranny fluid and refilled
2) changed shift solenoid
3) swap ecu
4) check for broken axles
let me know what else I can check on.

Re: 1992 Civic DX AUTOMATIC shifts but will not go anywhere
One thing you can do if you know how is check your linkage, could be in that..
Pray you don't have to be like me in your case. I have a 94 Civic EX, automatic trans. I had a similar problem in mine, and the mechanics determined I was in need of a rebuild. I had already changed the solenoids, fluids, checked for leaks and anything of that nature. More or less, if it isn't in that, then it's something inside that's probably bad. I had a $1400 repair bill to get a rebuilt, didn't feel like going with used transmission, but that's your choice. Used automatic transmissions in my area were around 400, labor varies to put it in...
Autos are just a force to be reckoned with...good luck and hope it gets fixed.
