93 Civic 5-speed - What type of fluid?
93 Civic 5-speed - What type of fluid?
Hello all! Here's a quick, hopefully simple question. I have a '93 Civic DX, 1.5 5-speed. I recently changed the CV shaft assemblies, but was unable to positivily identify from my Honda manual what type of fluid to put in the tranny. The factory Honda service manual says "Manual transmission oil, API service grade SF or SG, with a viscosity of 10W-30 or 10W-40. What in the world is this? Is this sold at Autozone / Advanced Auto, etc, or do I have to go to a Honda dealer for it? I found some 10W-40 "motor oil" with a SF service grade, but am worried this isn't what is required. To up the question one notch, is there a synthetic tranny oil out their that you would recommend, for tranny longivity & fuel economy? Thanks in advance to all who reply!!
Re: 93 Civic 5-speed - What type of fluid?
OK, now that I have spent an hour reading posts, I know to use Honda MTF. How about question #2. Is there a synthetic MTF for Honda's, or a recommended additive for improved longivity / mileage. What about that LC-20 stuff in a tranny? Thanks!
