Hey everyone- I just bought my first Civic yesterday, and I've been wondering if a certain mod is doable. I haven't been able to find any mention of it (or any aftermarket parts that seem to be designed for it), but I thought I'd ask around.

So, I've got an 09 LX sedan (automatic), and what I'm wondering is whether there's any way to switch out the parking brake handle that sits just to the left of the shifter, in the center console. I'm a pretty tall guy, and sometimes my knee hits it. It's not a big deal- I wouldn't have bought the car if I wasn't comfortable in it, yknow? Still, if I could switch that out for something shorter or something that sat a little lower, my Civic would be even better.

Anyway, it's probably obvious that I know basically nothing about cars, much less modding, so if this is a totally retarded question... please be gentle.

You could be the first to mod it. Anything is possible if someone has the time and $$$ to do it. But as far as a direct replacement, I couldn't find an aftermarket part for it. Usually there are aftermarket brake handles that look different have different shapes to it.

Another idea that I'm just gonna throw out there is try finding a different seating position, changing height of seat, moving the seat back, or moving the steering wheel position. Of if push comes to shove, you can always get an aftermarket seat (perhaps leather) that seats lower than the stock seats.

I'm 6'3" and have wondered the same thing. I pulled the hand grip of my son's RAZOR scooter and slid it over my parking brake it's so annoying.
