Turbo questions need answers asap
Turbo questions need answers asap
I'm buying the Dezod turbo kit on Thursday.
I'm getting Kpro/timming gear/ tunned for 1,995 thats with labor too for the cam gear. Sound decent?
Here are my list of questions:
1) What Gauges Should I get? Boost? Oil Pressure? and Volts? I got the 3 gauge pillar.
2) I plan on getting dezods Deatsch Werks 525cc Injectors-- I just have to swap the old ones out and put these new ones in? Do i need to do anything else to the fuel rail or anything? I also plan on getting the Walbro new fuel pump..
3) After I hook up the Dezod Kit, Will I be able to Drive my car? (about 30 min to the Tunning shop? I'll be on open downpipe until they can fix it for me since my exhaust is not stock and welded. Will I screw anything up if i drive it slow and under 3K? Or should I tow it there?
4) Oil Lines, where is the best spot to tap into the Oil pan?
5) The guy at the shop here said I can easily get 230WHP or MORE, with stock motor. He said Kpro is awesome and reliable. Think it's true?
I'm trying to make a daily driver/boost civic
So do you think 5,000 for a turbo kit/tunning/Kpro is worth it? for 230WHP or more? I think it is? but on the high side lol
IF you can answer the ? that would be awesome!

2. Ask dezod if the rail needs spaced, i would guess yes
3. Assuming you dont know how to tune , then yes it should be towed
4. if you mean the drain, then whatever is the straightest and highest location point and not rubbing on the exhaust
5. It's been done before, but all depends on the tune
Re: Turbo questions need answers asap
sure you can drive to the tuner. just take off a charge pipe and add a filter on the end so you dont build boost. it will just be a normal car with no boost pressure.
the drain line is as tnaff said. you need to make the drain line the highest and @ the straightest downward angle possible. for the feed line you could get some fittings to tap into the stock oil pressure sender location and run a line off that or get a sandwich plate adapter which sticks between the block and the oil filter.
if your tuner really knows what he is doing he can get you 230whp safely. but that would probably be the safest amount of power you could get on the stock block and stock intake mani. check the forsale section here. some dude is selling an old KMS intake mani for 100 bucks. any intake mani is better than our POS plastic one... he says it uses all stock sensors and stuff so all your stock sheeit can bolt on to the KMS one.
as for gauges if you only want 3 i would probably go with boost pressure, oil pressure, and exhaust gas temperature OR water temp. dont forget to add a wideband o2 in there also. all those gauges are the prime indicators that your motor is running good or shitty. i would actually say the more gauges the better but thats kinna 'ricey' lol.
i would also suggest getting ARP headstuds and maybe ARP rod bolts if you wanted some extra reassurance to fight head lift and bearing failure.
lots of money.... but you gotta pay to play mang!

Kpro montitors all of the things you requested guages for. However, you can buy any guage you want. I don't even run a boost guage.
I run SRT injectors. I just had to add shims to the posts to lift the fuel rail up a quarter of an inch. No biggie. Also cheaper than Dezods. Make sure you get clips too.
I would get it towed, but that's up to you. If you MUST drive, stay out of boost.
I would tap the pan on the highest point to the left of the exhaust. I went to the right and now mine cuts UNDER my exhaust. That's bad.
All of those things he said are true... for the most part. Kpro is highly intuitive, however, you're pushing your stock motor to it's limits. Worry about that.
Re: Turbo questions need answers asap
i think the satisfaction of the finished product in your em2 will outdo the satisfaction of a modded accord. for the simple fact that its a slow POS civic. [not directing that at your car, just civics in general lol]
Re: Turbo questions need answers asap
looooots of money to maintain and with boost .. u'll always want more
lol ... 230whp sounds to me like a lil too much if u say u want it a daily driver and reliable.. i mean, the tune could be good but like ^^^ said, u should worry about ur engine being maxed out ... u should get a boost controller, tune 6lbs around 180-200whp and then 8-9 pounds for 230-250 so u get that extra punch only when u want to use it, i think thats the best advice i can add ..e verything else is answered
