Ping/clank Noise. Annoyed. Help Please.
This is for people who lowered thier car with Skunk 2's or know how to help... I installed Skunk 2 coilovers about a month ago and ever since I lowered it, a ping/clank noise comes from the 2 front springs whenever I turn my wheel. I am pretty sure I installed them correctly and I believe the noise isn't from a ripped cv boot or anything like that. The noise is comming from the top of the spring rubbing against the metal of the strut because there is no actual cushion like rubber between the two metal surfaces. I have tried putting a rubber piece between the top of the spring and the strut so the friction of the spring turning won't create that noise but I can't really find a rubber piece that will fit up in there right. haha.. sounds like a personal problem... Anyway, I just need suggestions on how to get rid of this annoying noise. Perhaps I haven't tried everything yet.. Thanks.

Nah.. I don't think it's the bushing cuz i had a friend sit in my seat and turn the wheel while i looked at what was makin the noise and it was the spring friction turning with the wheels.
Hey I'm having the same issues....I have neuspeed sport springs with a neuspeed upper strut bar.
Whenever I turn I get little creaking noises. That's about it. In the manual that came with the springs it said to use the stock bumpstops and spring wraps, I'm pretty sure my mechanic did that because he gave me back all my stock parts and there wasn't any bumpstops.
Also my upper strut bar is rubbing against this plastic moulding right below my windshield and is making some friction noises. I did torque all the bolts for the upper strut to all recommended specs (33lbs).
If anyone knows a remedy, please help us out

I have neuspeed sports aswell and when I make a really tight turn going at a relatively slow speed I get a low pitched crank crank type noise.
It doesn't sound that bad and it doesn't happen very often but should I be concerned about anything?

<< I heard to put some white lithium grease on it to get rid of the noise. >>
where exactly should the grease go?
Thanks. >>
U sure you're not mistaken? I think that grease is for the polyurethane bushings in the rear when you put on ingals camber kit.. i guess you put that grease ontop of spring housing?
someone was having problems with a wierd squeeking noise and isolated the noise to the where the springs make contact with the upper housing - perch (whatever it's technically called?). they used some white lithium grease to keep the springs from squeeking. should be a thread out there somewhere that talks about it.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahaha.. Im relieved. Ok, so here's what you do:
1. go to auto zone or autoplace
2. buy white lithuim grease in a spray can
3. jack your front end up
4. spray up in the area where the top of the spring meets the upper housing (perch)
5. make sure its coated nice and good ...
6. if ya want, lift your spring up with your hand and get the bottom part too ... (that's what i did to make sure)
7. you're done. do the other side, jack the car down, drive around to get it lubricated well and you shouldn't hear a ping at all...
8. smile
