replacing guage lights in speedometer cluster
i have a 2002 civic lx 4dr and there are some guage lights on the main speedometer/tachometer cluster that appears to have burnt out. i'd like to replace them myself, but i'n not sure how to thake the cluster out and get to the light bulbs to replace them.
anyone has any experience with replaceing the cluster bulbs on a 7th gen before?
any help would be great.

yea put down the steering wheel using the lever adjust, remove two screws near the top of the gauge cluster bezel, stick hand in back and pull out bezel straight toward you with alot of force (its glued on), then you can remove the gauge cluster by taking out the two side screws and one top screw. then unplug the cluster and turn it over, there are 5 twist sockets that come out and you can change the bulbs.

Everytime I pull the black plastic piece, the buttons for the mileage and the light adjuster is on the way. Is there any easier way to take out that black plastic piece? I feel like I'm about to snap it off.

hmm? you shouldnt have to take the actual gauge cluster apart, only the black trim that goes around it. the whole cluster then unscrews and you just change the bulbs on the back by twisting off. that large black bezel pulls straight back towards you and nothing should be in the way. just pull straight back. and be sure to remove the two top screws first.

Yeah, that black trim I can't even take out. I unscrewed the two top screws, that's no problem.

But the buttons, which I circled in the picture, is in the way of pulling it towards me.

And I can't seem to nudge the bottom part of it either.

those buttons have no connection to the black bezel. they are part of the cluster. what you need to do is try and stick your fingers inbetween the bezel and the cluster plastic at the back, i know theres no room but try. then you really have to pull hard straight back with all your strength. it is glued in on the bottom too so the first time will be very hard. after that the glue wont really stick anymore so its easier to snap it back in. if you still cant figure it out, ill go take a pic where your fingers should be.
