Had no probs with our 99 S plate coupe until now, need help, Eng code
D16Y7.
Other day on the motorway the tacho stayed at 3000rpm and the Eng Man light came on, next the speedo went beserk moving from 0 to 140 + back and forth though actual speed was 60mph.

Got it home (7 miles)and no prob with eng performance, switched off and later tried to move it, not starting.

Plenty of fuel though plugs dry, sparks for 2 or 3 times weak then nothing.
Fuel pump relay works ok and it's had 3 replacement distributors, not new, but same fault occuring.

Had a diagnostic plugged in and no fault codes even though Eng Man light is still on.

Has anyone come across this kind of problem before and can give suggestions, or tell me where the tacho diagnostic link is in the car, or could it be an inertia switch fault, or a specific bad earth.?

Any help would be great.

that's wild. if you know anyone with an ECU you could borrow to try, i'd try that first and make sure something didnt happen to yours.

check to make sure all ground wires are secure and free of corrosion
