How do I degree the cam?
How do I degree the cam?
Hey guys,
I've had my engine half assembled now since February. It's a D17 A2, stock bottom end, engine only has 48,000 miles on it. The head has been ported and I have installed a Crower Stage 2 N/A cam with AEM adjustable cam gear. I am to the point now where I am basically ready to install the valve cover but I first need to degree the cam to ensure that the valves are opening with proper lift and the proper durations (which I will match with the cam spec sheet). I am sure that some of you who have replaced camshafts on the D17 will have ideas and advice on how to do this. I have access to dial guages and and measuring tools, but I don't have anything rigid to mount them on.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Warren
