Sedan Rear Speakers... 6.5's or 6 by 9... from what i see its 6.5 :: and some help please thanks

Hi peepZ i drive a 2002 Civic EX and i just bought new speakers for my car... i popped down the rear seats.. and u can see that the mounts for the speakers look like a 6.5's; i havent really taken down my rear deck due to the fact that i dont know how... i read the DYI posted by mohawkboom but that seems to be for an older 2000 civic... my rear seats come down w/ just a turn of my key... thing is i dont know how to remove the rear deck because the passenger and driver side seatbelt thing blocks it.... if i can get any help i would greatly appreciate it... thanks man...

ooo for the speakers do i just cut the connector thing and connect it to my new speakers cause the OEM are like socket kind.... =/ im sorta a newbee please dont flame at me... im just learning about cars... thanks man

Why does everyone think you get better bass response from 6x9's than just 6.5's .....oi..just because it has more cone area, the actual oval shape of the cone causes some wave cancellation.. which is why everyone these days s going for round 6.5 and 8" Midbass drivers and not 6 by 9's..

Cheers

Mohawk, I have been trying to tell my friends that for a long time but they don't believe me. Get a quality 6.5 and put some power to it.

hey all,
I had a question re: rear speakers on a '02 coupe. I called cruthfield and spoke with a guy and he said almost all 6x9's don't fit in the '02 coupe due to the speaker height. yet the stock ones are 6x9. Has anyone installed aftermarket 6x9's in a '02 coupe?if so did you have any problems? I plan to install some kenwood excelon 6x9 2 ways and wanted to know if I could. any feedback would be great

there is a problem with the trunk springs hitting the magnets on aftermarket speakers. not sure what people are doing to fix this.

If you install a 6'9" speaker and modify/cut the metal sheets, you'll get problems like the truck cables hitting the spaker magnets since the 6'9" magnets are really huge specially if it's 4 way. Also, you have to drill holes to screw the speakers. That's too much work. Why don't you just get an aftermarket 6'5" speakers for the rear and install a Kicker Solobaric subs, single or double will do and of any size of your preference.
