WTF wierd problem help?

WTF wierd problem help?
Alright, heres the symptoms: 2001 Civic EX Manual
-In first gear and sometimes second: I am accelerating at any rate, then lift off the gas, and when I reapply throttle the engine backfires and blubbers out to near stalling. I can give it gas and nothing happens it just bogs out. Then i put the clutch in and start again and its doesnt happen again. Usually only happens when i first start driving the car but sometimes when it's fully warmed up as well.
-The car seems to be surging. When i apply throttle smoothly, it like surges and pulls up to speed. For example, I tried holding the RPM at 3k in neutral and while holding my foot perfectly still the RPM's fluctuate from around 2800-3200.
-Idle is normal and oil is changed, everything in good, working condition.
I was wondering if it could possible be the timing belt? I really am not sure of what's going on at this point. I've looked at everything and it all seems to be good.

Any check engine lights? Sounds like a sensor is acting up. Honda has a nice handheld diagnostic machine that reads out sensor voltages. Without being able to see what is going on with your sensors, you're shooting in the dark. You may also need to have the ecu software updated.

Sounds like an air leak.
Maybe you have a stuck EGR valve.
Check the engine at idle, spray some seafoam or even soapy water on the plastic intake parts see if it makes any bubbles.

I had the same problem with my car and just fixed it yesterday. Turned out to be a bad wire at the MAP sensor plug. The easiest way to test this is to have the car running and start wiggling wires. When I came across the culpret wire the car practically stalled right away.
Mine was the middle wire on the MAP sensor plug, but check 'em all to be sure.

on my 2001 civic lx my car surges like crazy doesnt pass 2000rpm then it makes like a bubbles surgeing sound and if i barley give it any gas it sounds like it has 2 step but the whole engine shakes
