alright. well i just installed my new motor and reinstalled the turbo kit on it. occasionally i get some white smoke out of her. i also noticed that oil is dripping out of my flexpipe and the tip of my downpipe (im running downpipe w/ no exhaust) i used some oil and fuel additives lately if that helps any. is my engine still good? are my turbo oil seels done? i dont know i need help.
also..... randomly the car will bog out a lot and i cannot accelerate. when it bogs out i try to rev it higher to keep the motor alive but the rpms dont wanna go up. then within maybe 20 seconds the motor returns to normal again and i can accelerate. a few times the car died and i had to restart it while on the move to keep going. i have no engine check lights yet. the car still runs fine though whenever its not bogging out. in fact yesterday i ran a stock s2k and i beat him so i know its still running in decent condition.
!!!
any help is greatly appreciated. and thanks in advanced

check the turbo first, and make sure the drain is actually draining. Then run compression tests, go from there. Its probably the turbo... you running a restricter?

Re: oil in my downpipe w/ white smoke. car bogs out.. wtf?
hmmm whats a restrictor? well i am running the same exact turbo set up and the oil drain line is pretty big,10an. i dont see why it wouldnt be draining. is there anyway i can check the turbo without removing it from the manifold? its a bitch i hate doing it.
the motor itself only has 20k miles on it, i bought it from xproductions. can the piston rings really go bad on such a young motor? he told me the motor was jsut sitting in storage for 2 years with oil in it. i cleaned it out with 2 oil changes and i also added some oil stop leak to maybe fix some minor leaks. hopefully that fixes it. any more sugestions guys? thank you all for your help!
i will rep who i can
please rep me back!

Well, white smoke is water, and oil in the DP could be from anywhere.
An oil restrictor is a little pinhole fitting that goes in the feed line to keep the oil pressure in the turbo low... the car's pressure is way too high and can blow turbo seals.
If the motor sat unrun for 2 years, its possible a valve seal dried and cracked, etc..... really anything is possible, motors arent intended to sit and not run, all the oil drains out and you run into issues when parts dry. Did you reprime the oiling system before you started it? Start running tests.

start with the obvious...unbolt the turbo and just run with the stock motor and see if the problem still persists...thus the piston rings, valve seals, any kinda of motor problem...if so get those fixed first...if runs fine...you know its your turbo setup
Re: oil in my downpipe w/ white smoke. car bogs out.. wtf?
that must suck to take off the turbo then put it all back on woulndt it?? isnt that a huge hassle...im no ASE mechanic but isnt it like a 4 out 5 on a difficulty level to put one on? there has to be an easier way to find out whats up

if you take the turbo off, and you dont see oil in the exhaust manifold, it isnt coming from the motor. if you do see oil in the manifold, dont do a compression test, do a leak down test. oil helps seal cylinders, and by doing a compression test youll probably find that all of your pistons create good compression. doing a leak-down test specifically tests the piston ring to wall seal. at any rate, i really doubt you have a busted piston ring. if you had a leaking seal, youd be blowing out bluish smoke out of the exhaust. check the turbo itself. i know my turbo is leaking and the whole thing is pretty much coated in oil.

Re: oil in my downpipe w/ white smoke. car bogs out.. wtf?
Is it 10% or 20% difference in compression between cylinders?
Either way what you could do is do a compression test, and if compression is low in one cylinder, you can isolate the problem to the valves or rings by squirting a little 30 weight motor oil into the cylinder through the spark plug hole and repeating the compression test. The oil temporarily seals the rings.
If the compression readings are higher the second time around, it means the rings and/or cylinder are worn

i found out the 1491 is the EGR valve which i dont got on the lx block. i have the ex ecu and ex wire harness and the EGR plug is just left hanging. so that explains 1491. still doesnt explain the lagging though. i will check plugs and fuel filter.

its less than 10% difference between all of the pistons.

Re: oil in my downpipe w/ white smoke. car bogs out.. wtf?
boiler what do you do when you re prime the oil system? never heard of that before.
today i ran a gsr swap crx and beat him
anyways. after the run my car stalled out while rolling, i started her back up (was very easy to start up) then went home. since it stalled out it felt sluggish to me. i check my oil level and i cant really tell where it is since the oil is new. im wondering if there is any oil in there or if i just cant see it. i waited 30 mins to check also. last time i thought i had no oil i added more and i ended up having 2 quarts too much in the motor.

WHY are you racing ppl when your car is not right. Fix this problem before something catastrophic happens. I understand its very tempting to smoke ppl because you're boosted but seriously man suck it up and get the problem fixed. You have all summer to race.

I was going to say the same thing. You just blew your 1st motor right? Your **** is leaking oil and stalling out and you are STILL racing. You suck at modding cars, fix the issues first the get the car how you want. Stop being lazy and pull the turbo. You like wasting money on new motors?
