since its under your steering wheel, you should start by taking off the panel... guess where... under the steering wheel.

Ok, sounds like the little plunger switch thing on your brake pedal is broken. So the car doesn't know that the brake pedal is pushed.

I had this happen to me because I broke it off while installing my remote start...

It is a little white cylinder about 8mm diameter and a good 5cm long, inside a black casing on the back of the brake pedal. You can check it is this if you go under there and try to poke it yourself and see if the light comes on.

Actually I think it is on the front on the brake pedal. When you push it back, the plunger is allowed to release. It has 4 wires coming out of it.

Well most forums have the good sense to add a pic auto-resizer, and I already lowered the pictures resolution by over 4 times. They were over 4.5Mb each.

Better to get too much detail, then not enough!

Did that help any?

And do the poking on that little white part.

The white park should automatically push forwards when you press in the brake pedal. Then the brake lights should go on (while the car is on the on position). Push in the little white part, and the lights should go off. If that doesn't work, look at the wires on the back part. See if they are connected/loose. Trace it from the source, and that is the source.

I was trying to get it off. I thought it would unscrew somehow so I had a pair of pliers as I was down there, and tried to get it out. Well the part that makes it work came out! But the black plastic piece was stuck.

I went to the honda dealership and bought a new one for about $10, and then I had to try and put it in. The old one was still stuck in there. I tried for about and hour to manuever it out. Then I gave up and got a hammer. I just smashed the things to little bits and it fell out. Then I popped in the new one. I still have no idea how to take it out. But to get it in, you just push it in, and turn a little bit and it clicks in.

Seems easy enough to reverse, but not for me!
