Speeding Ticket
I got a speeding ticket a year ago (Feb 23, 2007), and I still havent gotten a court date. Brampton Court. When I went for first attendance, they said to reschedule because there was no JP. So I just took the court date, because I heard you can file for some thing that lets you dismiss the case if it has taken too long? Due to the terrorist guys getting arrested during that time, all the jusges pushed these traffic violations back, so what can I do to get get this ticket dismissed? Thanks.
I got another ticket, but I got that court date and even went to the court for it. Mississauga Court, and also got a letter saying I lost 2 points and stuff after the court date.

from what i was told by the guys at ex-coppers a court date can take as much as a year from the date of an issued ticket to be sent to you depending on how backed up the court dates are and can take up to two years for the actual time you go to court. i didn't actually go to court for more than a year after i got my tickets.
you can get the ticket dismissed due to your right to a trial within a reasonable time, but you need to go through a lot of legal crap (filling out forms and writing letters etc.) and after all that they might still make you go to court. the guy at the legal services told me a botched attempt to get a ticket dissmissed doesn't fair well with the judge and will almost always result in a conviction when you do go to court. i guess, depending on the severity of your ticket, it might just be worth the risk.

it's the 11b motion... a right to a speedy trial... you'll probably need a lawyer to do that for you...... i have a court date in brampton as well and the court date is 1.4 years to the offence date... i'll prolly try and get that off with the 11b motion option with a lawyer... it's not really garenteed.. but worth a try.. to not having a conviction on record.
