2 coilover questions
2 coilover questions
1. After I install the coilovers and get an alignment, how involved is it to adjust the drop? Do I need to remove the wheels and turn a **** or what?
2. So after I do finally adjust the height (say for winter snow vs. summer time) do I then need to get another alignment? That would kind of be a pain to have to get an alignment every time I decide to adjust ride height.
Thanks!

1) It would depend on which coilovers you have. On some you use a spaner wrench to turn the collar under the spring (up = lower, down = heigher). Others you turn the entire shock body. Most of the ones for 7thgens you adjust height by the spring. The only one that I can think of that you adjust by the shock is JIC. The K-sports and Megans might be but I'm not sure. So in short it's more than turning a **** (any **** adjustment I've heard of, was to change damper firmness not height) and you most likely will have to remove your wheels.
2) You don't need to get an alignment but you should. Any change in height is going to change your camber angles.

More importanly, Ride height changes are going to change your toe settings... and Bad toe settings will eat tires 10x faster then just about any amount of camber. So yes, every time you alter the cars ride height you should get an alignment.

SS changes height by moving the spring down.
JIC and megan offer independent height adjustment.
After you adjust you need a new alignment. My suggestion is to set it and forget it. Unless you really have to, don't adjust the height.
