2004 Si - engine swap

What engines would fit into a 2004 Si civic?

I dont care what brand of engine it is, though I'd want something turbo.
Any ideas?

So you'll go other makes of engine?
They would be expensive to fit most likely as custom engine mounts would need to be made up, among other things.

Im not sure what would fit comfortably but I have seen several SR20DET powered civics (Nissan Silvia engine).

K24A Swap!

No Offense!

If you are going to do a swap on the 04 you should go with the 2.4 liter K24A engine out the Honda CR-V. And if the displacement doesn't surfice, then you can to what Hasport Tuning did and slap a Jackson Racing S/C on it! Also they matched the engine with the Acura RSX-S's 6 speed manual transmission, with the Type R's LSD. This combo should put your HP to about 260! Now 260 ponies under the hood of a car that barely weighs 2700 pounds should put a smile on your face!!

Speaking of which i might have to do this swap myself!

Sounds like a somewhat simple engine conversion. Well more simple than trying to fit in a Nissan engine or something else non-Honda.
Are you really doing this swap yourself KamiJak?

The hatchback civic si 01 + all have a K20a3 i believe which is the same engine as in the base RSX. I'd say keep the engine you have which you can do alot to, whether you choose to do boost or N/A.

02+... just a little correction.... the si's do have the K20A3 but the rsx(all of them) have different versions of the K20... if i'm not mistaken.. from what i understand though, the only differences are in the heads... and i believe the rsx type s may have a different compression ratio piston but i believe this is also only from the head not from the piston at all.... but as far as the main topic of the thread, i would say go through your motor, beef up the internals, and boost it..

I'd say supercharge it but thats just me
It would require some internal upgrades but not to the extent that putting a turbo on would.

i disagree.. when upgrading internals, you either upgrade or you dont.. please explain what you would upgrade internal wise on a s/c set up? pistons and rods right? that's all that's needed to run a solid turbo set up.. cams, valve springs etc. are not internals... that's considered bolt on in my book.. all i consider internals is pistons rods and crank.. so upgrade or dont.. you dont do "some upgrading on internals"

Yeah you're right.. I should have just said some engine parts, not internals.
Once the engine is open you do upgrade it all, I agree.

Sorry for the misunderstanding
