mines takin a dump, an 01 ex with 131k on it. Anyone whose replaced one, would be a big help here. I dont want to get ripped off, but some of the quotes ive received have been ridiculous.
any help would give me ammo against the shops around here.
Thanks in advance.

You have PM
I believe it. I have a friend who works a s full time mechanic and he gets me Honda parts at his shops price, so no mark up. His dad works on Transmissions on the side so it all work out great. I hope to have the car back together tonight. We'll see.

i would say if you're gonna put a new input shaft in than just do a basic engine rebuild for like $800 or so...new clutch, berrings, piston rings, water pump, gaskets, belts etc

i know ...only reason i say is cuz if the tranny's comming out than might as well drop the engine out considering he has 131k on his engine heh...it wouldnt hurt to do it all at once that way its also cheaper

Once the bearing is dead.
Second gear will no longer engage.
Then i started to loose first gear, It basically wont go into gear.
Its real weird! So I bought a new tranny, clutch, and flywheel.
ALL is gravy now!

thats odd, my bearing is just noisy when im not holding the pedal in, but with the pedal out its noisy. Im taking it to honda tommorow, im not effin with it anymore.
oh and hey since im gonna drop the tranny, i should rebuild the engine huh? Riiiiight..... Maybe just go k20 at the same time huh. The car has 131 thou on it and runs strong as all hell, its never been beat on

a basic rebuild wont hurt...131k is still a lot of miles on an engine...i just rebuilt my friends engine and he only has 102k miles...all i mean by rebuild is: water pump, timing belt, maybe new piston rings, alternator belt, injector service etc...that is a basic rebuild not a full out changing pistons, valves, springs retainers etc...

yeah, sorry theres no plans to touch anything on this car, it has commuter miles, not gear mashing burnout, fast and furious tokyo drift miles... theres a difference.

I just spent 1800 on fixing my suspension. Everything was did wrong and broken during back to stock installation by "someone on here". Just sold my car and got s2k. I suggest u find someone who's trusted and knows what he's doing.

^^^ Why not make a thread telling what happened and the persons s/n so people know not to have that person do the work. Just cause you had problems with one person doesnt mean there is nobody on here who knows what they are doing. I also dont get how a suspension install was screwed up doing $1800 in damage...
maybe you should have researched the person first... I dunno. Sorry if I came off as a dick but I don't understand.
