Rep Power: 0 Yeah, Ive taken my tranny apart in my garage a couple times. No power tools really needed, although they make it go quicker...
My AWD tranny will be much more of a pain to swap out. It actually shifts smoooooooth as hell, and grips really nice for 140,000 miles. Especially for one of Subarus first AWD's. I think 93 is when they really started with the AWD on most cars. My impreza also has a FWD model, but I didnt get that one. lol.
Anybody on here ever worked on a EJ20 swap. Turbo motor of course? From the 5-7th gen STi's I believe? or a WRX swap? I need some help, or Im jsut gonna pay 5K for a RHD/engine/tranny/dash/clip/wiring/etc swap. I have one lined up, one of my EVO buddys works at Mynes, and this guy James knows the owner, too, and both of them say he needs to get rid of it for a good deal. I basically just drop my shell onto it, use all the new wiring from the wrx, and mod a few connections that I still use. It shouldnt be tooooooooooooooooooooo bad..........
Thats what Im up to. Working on my new old car, finding out exactly what I want to do, and saving money. Paint job/suspension should be done within a month or month and a half. so my car will at least look good.
First gear has that reverse sound though. I hate that. Its normal right? You know when you backup, and it has that whine in a manual tranny? My first is just as loud, sounds the exact same.

Rep Power: 0 My buddies Sti and my other friends in my club who have Evos say all the diffs sound like that especially in first gear. Just how they were made. I can honestly say it is a loud noise, sounds bad but I guess it's not.

Rep Power: 0 yeah, Ive been reading, and its normal. I guess its also normal for my car to leak all the PS fluid out onto the exhaust and smoke when I turn the car off, and sometimes while driving, lol. Now my PS sounds way crappy. I still have to drive it though, and dont wanna fill it up everyday. Its gonna break on me soon, but hopefully Ill fix it by than. I dont wanna put any money into this engine/tranny, cuz its all gonna come out, but damn this sucks just to have something to drive for right now. gettin expensive.
