Laptop Installation
Laptop Installation
Aight so hears the deal. I am getting a laptop and want to hook it up to the head unit... can I get some suggestions on how to do that and how to hide the wires from the head unit to the laptop. I was thinking of mounting the laptop in the glove compartment and having it slide out when it opens but my main issue is how to hook the laptop up to the head unit. I need all the help I can get so the smallest bit will help! Pics would be tight too. thanks for the help

I've done it, but not in the glove box, you head unit needs an aux imput and you can just run the sound card out into that. problem is most laptops have a low output volume, fo you'll need a preamp. You might be able to buy one, but i just built mine.
aight do you know a place where I can get a preamp? or can an amp do the same thing... also once I have the preamp/amp once I have the wire plugged into the aux input where in the laptop do i run it to... also wut type of wire would i need. thanks a lot
well, it depends on your head unit as far as what cable, if it's a normal aftermarket head unit then you'll need a male ministereo to male rcas. as far as the amp? i never really looked around, but i think i saw something that would work at bestbuy, i built mine cuz i knew how and it sound better than any other one you could buy...lol

I don't believe there are aux inputs on the stock deck. Therefore, there is no way to plug the laptop into it. The best you could do is get an FM transmitter to plug into the headphone jack on the laptop.
well, u can hook it up to ur RCA input jack in ur a preamp like what booba said. that's the only way i think it would work.
