Build your internals, switch to a return fuel line, get a custom fuel rail made, and run some 450cc injectors for starters. What fmu are you running. Give us some more details on the specifics of your setup

What are you using for an ems, e-manage? If you are serious about this you'll need to step up to the AEM EMS

he has an fmu for fuel management. its a fixed afr. but the problem with this is you have a flat fuel curve. you need fluxation. that is why tunning software is soo important. also FMU's are bad. they are considered a bandaid in the F/I world. there are dead spots or lean spots you cant tune out when using them. the first thing i would do is get an engine management system ie: aem ems or greddy emanage. you will need a larger set of injectors as well. the fmu you are running has to be looped because we do not have a return fuel system and that is how a FMU give more fuel pressure. it is also especially dangerous to run an FMU with a returnles system because you can cause your stock injectors to clip. this could be detrimental to your motor. your first new mod should be an engine management system. i bet you could tune out another 20-50hp depending on the boost level the tuner feels safe at...

right now im using neither i am serious i was thinking about doing the k20 swap but i think i have decided aganst that and to stay with the d17 T setup the guy with the shop said he just bought some programs he is still geting used to but he thinks that he will be able to just go into the computer and over ride it and tune it from there with out the ems but im not sure and wasn't sure how sure he was...

well i was looking into getting and emanage but i wanted to make sure that it was somthing i needed and was going to be worth getting i also have the external fuel pump for better fuel pressure if that would be a way that the fmu wasn't looped?

unless the car was converted toa return system the fuel pump can actually be worse on the injectors. because it is also trying to push a higher pressure to the regulator or in this cas e the FMU. there is no software out right now that will allow you to edit the d17 ecu. so that guy either doesnt know what he thinks he does or he is just feeding you a line to get you to buy. the emanage would probably be your best investment right now/ ems is a bit more expensive but does have a better control over everything. basically the ems is a stand alone computer that works with your stock sensors. the emanage is a piggy back. so it modifies the signals comming from your sensors. either way you need a tune and to ditch that FMU before soemthing happens.

Ask the owner what software / tunning program he is using. Maybe he is thinking u have a si w/ a3.
One thing to keep in mind, doing a k20 swap will cost u a bit. NOT saying u don't have any $$$ or anything. I just want over my budget when I was doing mine.

Three things. AEM EMS, bigger injectors and a d16y8 manifold swap. Of course, ditch the pos fmu and external pump, just run an in tank walbro 255 and maybe some 440-550 injectors and you'll be golden.
