02 EX CD player on the fritz!
02 EX CD player on the fritz!
I just got this car and the cd player is acting weird, there is one CD that it will play no problem, another one it used to play. Now all the other when I put the cd in it will act like it is going to track one..... says 00 then will post EJECT screen and push CD out. I have tried bought CDs, burnt CDs and all won't work but that one bought CD. Anyone have any ideas what the deal is ?? If not I will go aftermarket with an MP3 player. By the way how much of a pain are those to install?? I used to install alot of car audio 15 years ago..... thanks for any suggestions....
Yeh, that was my thought. What is a good MP3 deck for cars? I don't want to go crazy price wise either.... any suggestion? I will check out the DIY too, I thought about an amp too cuz I have one sitting around. thanks for the reply.

my fav brand of headunits is pioneer, i know alot of people will say eclipse or alpine, but i tried both (currently have eclipse) and i miss my pioneers. dont get me wrong the sound quality of eclipse and alpine is great, it's just missing some features that pioneer has & i like the look of pioneer better too. example my eclipse headunit doesn't have a built in crossover, you cant turn off the sub on the headunit (had to put a switch on the remote wire) cause sometimes i like to listen to music with the car off. plus the alpine i tried wouldnt read a brand new cd that i had burnt and tried it in my pioneer and it worked. and now the eclipse i have says that you should burn mp3's at 128 kbs or less, all my songs are 192 or more, and when i change songs it takes like 5+ seconds to switch between songs. never had any problems with all the pioneer headunits i've owned and seen. if your looking towards pioneer, i just installed a 6800 premier in my buddy's car last week and bought it new from ebay for 200$ and i love it, very nice HU.

i had a pioneer that played everything i threw at it without a single skip for 2 years. then i sold it and got an alpine because it matched my interior better, it is very picky and only plays regular music cds. mp3 skips all over the place. a year later its at the shop for repairs. the alpine has better sound but what good is it if you cant even listen to music. kenwood used to be rock solid but then the quality started going way down. no idea what they are like now.

the alpine i tried was last year when i bought the 9855 wich was an expensive HU and it didn't want to read the mp3 i burnt, i don't know if it was defective, but that was my first experience with alpine and not a good one, so i sold it imediatly.

i hope new software helps me. the thing i cant understand is it played all these cds fine for the last year. then since last month it started skipping, and it just got worse. so idk why it would do that.

. they are easy to install, there is a DIY stickied on top of this forum.
